Kraamzorg NataliaMaternity care at home
What is kraamzorg

Eight days at your home

Kraamzorg is maternity care at your own home during the eight days after the birth.

Giving birth in hospital

If you give birth in hospital and there are no complications, you go home with your baby after a few hours. That is when I arrive and our week together starts.

Giving birth at home

If you choose a home birth you can count on me too. Alongside the midwife I assist and support you during the birth. Like every professional maternity nurse, I am trained in birth assistance.

Core tasks

What my work includes

My work is the basic care and the medical checks, plus support through the first demanding days.

Checks on the mother

Pulse, temperature, the position of the uterus and any stitches.

Feeding

Guidance and hands-on help with breastfeeding and with bottle feeding.

Caring for your baby

Explaining, showing, doing it together and assisting while you learn.

Every check is recorded in the maternity care file.

Working with your midwife

I report every check and your situation back to the midwife.

All hours are spread across 8 days. They can shift depending on how the birth went and your personal situation.

The questions I get most

I am pregnant, what now?

I am pregnant, what now?

Congratulations! Find a midwifery practice near you. Once you are registered with a midwife, she looks after you and your baby until the birth.

Kraamzorg: what, how and when?

Maternity care is best arranged before week 20 of your pregnancy. Now that you are reading this, you can sign up with me straight away through the form.

What does it cost?

Maternity care is covered by your health insurance. On a basic policy the insurer invoices a personal contribution of €4.50 per hour of care.

What is an intake gesprek?

An introductory meeting at your home, between week 34 and 36 of the pregnancy. In that conversation I explain how I work, we provisionally choose the number of hours and I answer all your questions. You can tell me what you expect from the care and what matters most to you.

What is a kraampakket?

Once you tell your insurer you are pregnant and your policy covers it, a kraampakket is sent to your home before week 36. If it does not, you can order one yourself or buy the items at a chemist or pharmacy. You can order a package at natalias.nl.

  • maternity pads
  • mattress protectors
  • sterile gauze
  • a bottle of 70% alcohol
  • a pack of zigzag cotton wool

Sign up before week 20
